Moving to a new server (IP switch)
Move your licence to a new host or server IP.
Your licence is bound to the IP of the server that first connected with it. Moved to a new host, new machine or new IP? Switch your licence yourself in a minute.
Switch from the dashboard#
- Install Apex on the new server with the same
apex.keyand start it. - Open your dashboard while the new server is running. You'll see "New server detected with your key".
- Click Switch anticheat.
- Restart the new server so the anticheat starts up properly.
The old server is stopped automatically on its next heartbeat: Apex prints an ANTICHEAT SWITCH notice in its console and stops the resource there.
The prompt only shows while the new server is online
The dashboard shows the switch prompt only when the new server has connected within the last ~40 seconds. Keep it running while you switch.
Clicking Ignore keeps your current server; that IP won't prompt again until a switch happens.
Only the licence owner (or staff with Master actions) can switch.
What happens to the other server?#
A second server with the same key stays idle — the anticheat doesn't activate there and nothing is broken. It simply waits until you switch.
Coming soon Soon#
We're building a dedicated IP switch page in the dashboard:
- see which IP your licence is bound to,
- move the licence to a new IP without the new server having to be online first,
- a history of switches.
Until then: use the steps above, or open a ticket in our Discord and we'll move it for you.
